Atlanta Braves shortstop Paul Janish left the game against the Miami Marlins Tuesday night with a dislocated left shoulder, according to the Braves' official twitter. He will have X-rays done on the shoulder, but his season could be over. Janish said, "I've probably done it eight or nine times before but never got stuck," according to Kevin McAlpin of the Braves Radio Network.

Janish was traded from the Cincinnati Reds to the Braves July 14 in exchange for pitcher Todd Redmond. With the injury to top prospect Andrelton Simmons, and the ineffectiveness of rookie Tyler Pastornicky, Janish has gotten the bulk of the playing time at shortstop for the Braves this season. He has hit only .186/.269/.234 in 186 plate appearances, but he is known as a superlative defender.

The Braves are currently 5½ games behind the Washington Nationals for the National League East lead, but they hold a firm grip on the top NL Wild Card spot as they are seven games ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals.
