The Philadelphia Phillies hit four home runs in support of starter Kyle Kendrick to top the Atlanta Braves Friday night by a score of 6-2. Kevin Frandsen, Ryan Howard, Carlos Ruiz and Chase Utley all hit solo shots. Kendrick pitched an impressive game, lasting 6⅔ innings, scattering five hits and striking out six while only allowing two runs.

Braves starter Tommy Hanson threw 5⅓ innings, giving up five runs to earn the loss.

The Phillies got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning as Juan Pierre hit a one-out triple and Utley grounded out to bring him home. Frandsen then homered to lead off the third, and Howard and Ruiz went back-to-back in the fourth. Utley capped off the night's scoring with his home run in the eighth.

The Phillies' win, coupled with the St. Louis Cardinals' loss earlier Friday, brings them to within three games of the second Wild Card in the N.L.
