The New York Yankees picked up a much-needed win Saturday in a 14-inning thriller against the Oakland A's at Yankee Stadium, winning 10-9. Ichiro Suzuki scored the game-winning run on a fielding error by Brandon Moss to give the Yankees the victory.
Yankees Beat A’s In 14-Inning Thriller
The New York Yankees defeated the Oakland Athletics in a wild 14 innings Saturday.

New York needed to win this game to stay alone at the top of the National League East Division standings, with the Baltimore Orioles contesting.
Oakland got things going in the first when Seth Smith hit an RBI double to score Stephen Drew. Yoenis Cespedes followed that up with an RBI double of his own to bring in Smith.
The Yankees came back in the bottom half of the inning with Alex Rodriguez scoring on a wild pitch after Ichiro hit a leadoff homer. They added three runs total in the frame.
Drew homered in the third inning, and second baseman Cliff Pennington tied it up with an RBI single in the fourth inning.
With both teams at five runs apiece, extra innings were scoreless until the 13th. The A’s hit three home runs in that inning and seemed to separate themselves from the Yankees. Jonny Gomes slammed a two-run shot. Cespedes homered deep to left field, and Chris Carter hit a solo shot as well.
But New York wasn’t finished. The Yankees scored on yet another wild pitch to bring the score to 9-6. Nunez hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Rodriguez, making the score 9-7.
Then, Raul Ibanez hit his second homer of the game, a two-run shot in the 13th to tie the score before Moss's error gave the Yankees the win in the 14th. The win puts the Yankees a game ahead of the Orioles in the NL East standings.
