Tottenham Vs. QPR: Final Score 2-1, Spurs Make Second Half Comeback

Jermaine Defore continued his hot start to the Premier League season as Tottenham fought back in the second half to defeat QPR 2-1 at White Hart Lane. Defoe’s goal, along with an unfortunate own gaol by Alejandro Faurlín was enough for Spurs to overcome a 1-0 first half deficit.

Spurs were nothing short of atrocious in the first 45 minutes, so poor that their home fans heartily booed them off the pitch at the halftime whistle. QPR were the be better attacking side and had several good chances before taking he lead in the 32nd minute. Before later becoming the goal, Faurlin made a great play to get through the Spurs defense and found Bobby Zamora who put the ball over an advancing Brad Friedel's right shoulder. It could have been much worse for Spurs if not Friedel making a couple excellent saves to keep them in the game. QPR manager Mark Hughes was furious with referee Phil Dowd after the referee waved away a challenge by William Gallas on Zamora in the box.

After some adjustments at halftime, Spurs were a much improved side in the second half. They equalized in the 59th minute when Faurlin somehow managed to chest a Steven Caulker header in to his own goal. It was a stunning moment of fail, followed two minutes later by a nice finish by Defore to give Spurs the lead they would not relinquish.

There's clearly still plenty of work for Andre Villas-Boas to do with his team, but Spurs have now won two matches in a row and finally got their first win at home. As for QPR, who site in 19th place with two points, pressure is building on Mark Hughes as his expensive side continues to struggle to get results.
