Martin Kelly Tears ACL; Daniel Agger Escapes Serious Injury

Liverpool got a dose of bad injury news to go along with their good news on Monday. Daniel Agger, who Brendan Rogers feared may have serious ligament damage after leaving Sunday's match versus Manchester United, turned out to have nothing more than a bone bruise on his knee, but scans revealed that Martin Kelly tore his ACL.

Kelly's injury will require reconstructive surgery and keep him out what Liverpool called "a significant period of time". ACL reconstruction usually keeps players out for 6-9 months so the Reds may lose Kelly for the remainder of the season. Assuming Jose Enrique gets fit, he will be able to slot back in at left back and Glen Johnson can move across to right back, where Kelly had been playing.

In addition to injuries to Kelly and Agger, Liverpool is also dealing with an injury to Fabio Borini. The Italian was said to have a very swollen ankle after the match and that swelling was still there on Monday. Until that swelling goes does, Borini cannot undergo any scans so his status is still unknown.
