Manchester United defeated Newcastle United to advance in the League Cup, and will now go away to Chelsea in the next round.
League Cup draw: Red Devils go to Chelsea

Shaun Botterill - Getty ImagesThere’s no guarantee that this year’s League Cup will have a Cinderella, since every match features at least one Premier League club. It’s entirely possible that all lower league sides could be out of the competition for the quarterfinal round. Bradford City is the only team remaining from League Two, while Swindon Town are the only surviving League One team. Leeds United and Middlesborough are the remaining representatives from the Championship.

Michael Regan - Getty ImagesIt’s a game that both sides will be trying to win, and Newcastle may smell blood if United do field an inexperienced team, but the Magpies have not gotten off to as strong a start to the season as they did last year, and Pardew may want to keep his squad fresh too. At the very least, it should be an entertaining game, with both sides playing to progress and a chance to see some young and exciting players in action for both sides.

Michael Steele - Getty ImagesOf all the other Premier League teams, Swansea may be in the greatest danger, with Michael Laudrup’s men wobbling after their excellent start, and financially-charged Crawley sitting in eighth place in League One.
Chelsea will face a Wolves side that have not yet found their rhythm in the Championship, but Stale Solbakken’s men could still spring a surprise, particularly with the Blues likely to field a weakened or more experimental lineup.
