Tuesday night, the Texas Rangers have (sort of) a big game against the second-place Oakland Athletics. Yu Darvish was scheduled to start for the Rangers. But now he won't, because of a stiff neck. Instead, Scott Feldman's going to make the start.
Yu Darvish scratched from Tuesday start against A’s
This news might have seemed a lot worse if the Rangers hadn’t come back to beat the A’s Monday night; that was a two-game swinging turning a would-be three-game lead into a five-game lead. If the Rangers can win at least one of these next three games, they’ll be in a fantastic position to win the division going away.
The important thing isn’t to beat the A’s Tuesday night; the important thing is to get Darvish healthy for the postseason. After a rough stretch following the All-Star Game, he’s been outstanding in his last six starts: 1.84 ERA, with 52 strikeouts and only nine walks in 44 innings. Darvish, it seems, finally made the necessary adjustments to dominate the earth’s best baseball hitters.
