Orioles’ Randy Wolf possibly done for the season

Test analysis from team doctors on Wednesday will determine Wolf’s fate.

Baltimore Orioles left-hander Randy Wolf's season hinges on the diagnosis of MRI results taken Tuesday on his injured left elbow. According to manager Buck Showalter, the veteran starter will meet with both the team's orthopedist and general doctor Wednesday to determine his fate, per the Baltimore Sun:

“There are two or three options,” Showalter said. “Randy’s still got some questions he wants to ask Dr. Wilckens and Dr. Yocum before he and we make a definite decision about his availability for the rest of the year.”

When asked if there was a possibility that Wolf could pitch again this season for the Orioles, Showalter said that was “one scenario.”

Wolf (5-10, 5.65) initially felt discomfort in his elbow during the fifth inning of his last start Friday in Boston. The left-hander finished the inning but did not return for the sixth. Signed by the Orioles on Aug. 22 following his release by the Milwaukee Brewers, Wolf has made five appearances for Baltimore, posting a 5.28 earned-run average in 15⅓ innings.

Wolf was already a long-shot to make the Orioles’ postseason roster (if they make it) when healthy, but his injury will likely put him out of the running altogether.
