Cincinnati Reds pitcher Homer Bailey has yet to surrender a hit through seven innings Friday night against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

He has struck out eight and walked only one on a total of 89 pitches. Clint Barmes had seemed to notch a hit off of Bailey to lead off the third inning, but it was ultimately ruled an error. The ball was hit sharply at third baseman Scott Rolen and he was able to play it cleanly.

Bailey has excelled against the Pirates more than any other team throughout his career, notching a 7-2 record and a 2.83 ERA against them in 11 previous starts. He has thrown two complete games in his career, both of them against the Pirates.

Bailey is 12-10 this season with a 3.92 ERA over 31 starts.
