Mike Trout set a new franchise record for runs in a single season and Mark Trumbo drove in three runs with a pair of doubles and a single, helping the Los Angeles Angels beat the Texas Rangers, 7-4, Friday at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

Trout hit his fifth lead-off blast of the season off Rangers starter Ryan Dempster, his 29th homer overall on the year. Trout is now the Angels' record-holder for runs with 125, and he's just two away from Tim Salmon's team record of 31 homers hit by a rookie, set in 1993.

Chris Iannetta shot a solo home run in the third, and one inning later, Trumbo had his first two-baser of the night with a line drive to center field, scoring Erick Aybar, who got on base after grounding into a force out. In the sixth, Trumbo, with another double, scored Howie Kendrick, who walked with one out.

The Halos scored three more in the seventh. Kendrys Morales' 25th double of the year scored Torii Hunter, who had reached base via a lead-off walk. Kendrick drove in Morales, and one batter later, Trumbo singled on a ground ball to left field, scoring Kendrick.

Josh Hamilton scored in the fourth thanks to a sacrifice fly by Nelson Cruz. Three innings later, Cruz had a solo tater. Adrian Beltre also homered in the eighth, driving in two.

Jered Weaver had his 20th win of the season, allowing five hits and two runs in seven frames of work, striking out five. Dempster got his eighth loss, granting four runs off seven hits in 5⅔ innings. Ernesto Frieri notched his 22nd save.
