Cyclones linebacker A.J. Klein started the scoring, as he returned an interception thrown by Red Raiders quarterback Seth Doege 87 yards for a touchdown to give Iowa State a 7-0 lead.
Doege and the Red Raiders tied the game in the second quarter, and the teams entered the half knotted at 7 apiece.
Iowa State quarterback Steele Jantz connected with tight end Ernst Brun, Jr. for his only touchdown of the night, giving the Cyclones a 13-7 advantage. However, this lead was short-lived as Texas Tech strung together 17 unanswered to put the game away.
