Kurt Suzuki doubled in Adam LaRoche and Danny Espinosa in the 10th inning Saturday night as the Nationals defeated the Cardinals 6-4 in St. Louis. The win drops the Nationals magic number to one for the National League East championship. The loss drops the Cardinals to 85-73. They still lead the Dodgers by 2 ½ games for the second wild card slot in the National League.

Michael Morse got things started early for Washington with a bizarre grand slam in the first inning off of Cardinals starter Kyle Lohse.
The Cardinals got on the board in the seventh inning off of Nationals starter Jordan Zimmerman. Carlos Beltran and Skip Schumaker had one-out singles, which brought up Pete Kozma who doubled to score both runners. After Sean Burnett relieved Zimmerman, John Jay singled home Kozma to make it 4-3, which is where the score would stay until the ninth.
With Drew Storen on the mound, Kozma and Daniel Descalso hit one-out singles. Jay delivered a sacrifice fly to tie the game at four before Storen struck out Matt Carpenter to send the game to extra innings, where Suzuki gave them the lead with a double off of Sam Freeman.
Craig Stammen pitched a scoreless 10th to earn his first save.
