The LSU Tigers were the team hit hardest by early defections to the NFL. Eleven juniors declared for the 2013 NFL Draft, joining 13 other seniors on their way out of Baton Rouge. Despite not starting a single senior on defense, six LSU starting defenders will not return.
Much of the SEC was hit by players leaving early for the draft. Alabama and Texas A&M lost two juniors, Arkansas and Georgia lost three, and Florida and Tennessee lost four. No one was hit as hard as LSU, though, which will have to revamp a great deal of its starting two-deep.
Outside the SEC, Florida State, Michigan State, Oklahoma and Stanford each lost three juniors. Cal, Eastern Washington, Rutgers and USC lost two. Every other team lost one junior or none.
Interestingly, most juniors at Alabama and Notre Dame opted to return. Only three combined juniors left early from the national championship contenders.
2013 NFL Draft early declarations by college: LSU decimated
The LSU Tigers will lose far more of their juniors than any other college football team to the 2013 NFL Draft.
