Washington Capitals left wing Brooks Laich is expected to miss the first 1-2 weeks of the 2013 season, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie.
Brooks Laich injury: Capitals forward to miss 1-2 weeks
The Capitals forward will miss the first few weeks of the season after suffering an injury during the lockout.

Laich was not on the ice for the Capitals for the first day of training camp on Sunday, as the winger is reportedly dealing with a groin injury suffered while playing in Europe during the NHL lockout. Laich played with Kloten of the NLA in Switzerland during the lockout, scoring six goals and registering 18 points in 19 games.
Drafted in No. 193 overall by the Ottawa Senators in 2001, Laich was traded to the Capitals during the 2003-04 season. Laich had a career season with the Capitals in 2008-09 with 25 goals and 59 points in 78 games, and signed a six-year, $27 million contract with the Capitals prior to the 2011-12 season. Last year, Laich registered 16 goals and 25 assists in 92 games, his lowest point total since 2007-2008.
Laich was expected to play on the left wing next to center Mike Ribeiro, with Wojtek Wolski expected to take his place on the second line in the interim.
