Manu Ginobili leaves game with left hamstring injury, will not return

The Spurs were absolutely on fire when Manu Ginobili entered the game. But then San Antonio got some bad news. Their veteran shooting guard will not return to Sunday’s game against the Timberwolves.

Manu Ginobili was having a fine night for himself against the Minnesota Timberwolves. In just 12 minutes of playing time, the veteran shooting guard scored 12 points on 6 of 11 shooting and dished out 5 assists. And then the San Antonio Spurs got some bad news.

Ginobili started limping and grabbed his left leg. There wasn’t any contact or nasty fall that led to the injury; he just kind of got hurt on his own. The Spurs announced that the injury was a left hamstring strain and that Ginobili would not return to the game.

The Spurs will probably be fine against the Wolves, as Minnesota is still without All-Star Kevin Love. But if Manu misses an extended amount of time, the injury could really hurt. The Spurs are currently near the top of the Western Conference, but have some company. The Los Angeles Clippers and Oklahoma City Thunder are battling the Spurs for the conference's top seed and missing Manu for a stretch of games could have long-term consequences.
