The Celtics are no longer the worst offensive rebounding team in basketball

Rejoice, New England! The Celtics are no longer the worst offensive rebounding team in basketball. Better yet, their bitter rivals are now behind them.

Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

A great rejoicing went out across New England with news that the notoriously offensive rebound adverse Celtics have been supplanted at the bottom of the heap by the Miami Heat after Miami's loss to the Utah Jazz on Monday night. This was a long time coming for the C's who have basically treated offensive boards like a contagious disease. That it's the hated Heat who are more anemic only makes it sweeter.

Of course, the fact that the defending champions have also abdicated the offensive glass, as have the Spurs who are lingering in 28th, is an indication that it's no crazy a strategy, after all. Whatever for that.

No longer will Celtics fans have to hear on national television broadcasts that their team is the worst rebounding team in the league, even though they’ve rated from awesome to respectable on the defensive glass over the last six years. Although, the fact that their defensive rebounding percentage has slipped all the way to 13th is a little troubling.

No negativity here. This is a joyous day in Boston. All hail Jared Sullinger! Paul Silas would be proud.
