East-West Shrine Game 2013 practice report: Ray Graham among players helping themselves

The 2013 East-West Shrine game is taking place in St. Petersburg, Fla., all week, with the all-star game on Saturday.

ST. PETERSBURG - The third day of the East-West Shrine Game concluded with a couple of players who have really helped themselves out in the eyes of those in attendance. Most players coming into all-star games are merely looking to confirm what a lot of scouts already think, but others come to prove they can compete on a higher level than what they showed during their final season in college.

Ray Graham, RB, Pitt: Graham has consistently been the best overall running back at the practices. He shows good burst with the ball in his hand and can break the big play. In a weak running back class, a guy like Graham can endear himself to teams quickly if he can show he can pick up blitzes and work on passing downs.

Trent Steelman, WR, Army: The military quarterback has been impressive in his transition to the wide receiver position and has drawn a lot of interest from team scouts. Steelman has a two-year commitment with Army he must uphold before he can make the leap to the NFL, but he appears to be making a good impression with his position switch.

Keith Pough, LB, Howard: The small-school linebacker has been one of the better defenders at the East-West Shrine game all week. Pough shows impressive mobility and fluidity in coverage you wouldn’t expect from such a big linebacker.
