The Los Angeles Kings have announced contract extensions for President and General Manager Dean Lombardi, President of Business Operations Luc Robitaille and head coach Darryl Sutter, per a team press release.

“We are ecstatic that we have kept our leadership team in place both on the hockey side with Dean and Darryl and on the business side with Luc and remain in a position to continue competing for the Stanley Cup for many more years. They have all done a fantastic job in their respective areas and they have put together outstanding leadership teams. They collectively are a huge reason our franchise is enjoying the success we are enjoying. Now the challenge is to stay on top of that mountain,” said Kings Governor Tim Leiweke.
Lombardi has been the general manager of the Kings since 2006 and has steadily built one of the stronger teams in the NHL, first making the postseason in 2010. After making the playoffs as the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference in 2012, the Kings roared through the postseason with just four losses on their way to winning the Cup over the New Jersey Devils.
Darryl Sutter joined the Kings in December of 2011 after the dismissal of coach Terry Murray. Under Sutter, the Kings managed a 25-13-11 record in 49 games before leading his team to winning the Cup. The Kings were the first team in the history of the NHL to beat the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 seeds to win the Cup championship.
The Kings open the season on Saturday against the Chicago Blackhawks. Puck drops at 3 p.m. ET with national coverage on ESPN.
