The Detroit Red Wings already-thin defensive corps took another hit on Wednesday, as veteran defenseman Ian White underwent surgery to repair a deep laceration to his leg, according to Ansar Khan of M Live.

The Red Wings are down another defenseman after Ian White suffered a deep laceration in Tuesday’s loss.

White was cut by a skate just above his knee in the third period of Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Dallas Stars and will not miss 2-3 weeks following the surgery.
Three of the top six defensemen for the Red Wings are now sidelined, as Carlo Colaiacovo will miss 3-4 weeks after suffering a Grade 2 shoulder separation in Monday's 4-3 win over Columbus. The Red Wings signed veteran defenseman Kent Huskins just prior to the game against the Dallas Stars following the Colaiacovo news, with Jonathan Eriksson also missing time with a hip injury.
Red Wings general manager Ken Holland has stated Detroit will not make another move to add a defenseman since Jakub Kindl is expected to return on Friday after being out with a groin injury.
