Most of Italy’s top sides dropped points this weekend, with Juventus and Inter earning draws, and Lazio and Fiorentina losing. But Napoli broke Parma’s unbeaten run, and Milan took advantage of others’ mistakes by climbing to fifth in the Serie A table.

    With little over five minutes of normal time remaining, El Matador was sent through on goal, rounding Mirante before stroking the ball into the back of the net, ending Parma’s excellent unbeaten home run and breaking Emilian hearts. The neutrals, with the title race well and truly on, were rather more jubilant.

    Palermo fail to hold on to a win, again

    Indeed it was Cagliari who started off the brighter of the two sides, with Mauricio Pinilla getting a shot off in the first minute. New Palermo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino did well to push it away, however. Then came a series of seemingly endless corners for the home side, ending only when Palermo finally forced their own, leading to a miss from Josip Illicic.

    The Slovenian redeemed himself in the 30th minute, however, when he scored the opening goal. Andrea Dossena, who is proving to be a great signing for Palermo, pulled back to place a perfect ball for Ilicic. The attacker sent in a sharp strike from just outside the area, leaving no hope for Michael Agazzi.

    Genoa hope Lady Luck assists against the Old Lady

    Even in their 4-0 win, though, Juve weren’t flawless, but Paul Pogba’s brace broke the Udinese resolve and the floodgates opened. Genoa, despite being in the relegation zone, might not be so easy to break -- surprisingly enough, they’ve conceded just 13 goals on the road.

    Miracles do happen, after all.
