Darrelle Revis trade rumors: Jets reportedly seeking 1st and 2nd-round picks

The New York Jets are reportedly looking for a first and a second-round pick in a deal for Darrelle Revis, according to sources. We discuss the rumors brewing in Florham Park, NJ.

With the New York Jets rebuilding, again, there have been swirling rumors regarding the bold new direction of the franchise. New GM John Idzik was non-committal with regards to cornerback Darrelle Revis at his introductory press conference, saying he has yet to examine the roster.

As he is far-and-away the team’s best player, Revis was not delighted to hear this. He tweeted that he was “speechless” over the speculation that he could be on his way out of New York.

Things have now gotten as far as what the Jets may be looking for in order to deal the multi-year Pro Bowler. Mike Freeman of CBS Sports reported that the team is looking to acquire a first and a second-round pick for the All-Pro cornerback.

The 49ers, Ravens and Seahawks were all listed as potential landing spots in the article. The 2012 postseason teams may want to examine this option -- especially the Denver Broncos, whose secondary was embarrassed when they were eliminated in heart-breaking fashion by the Ravens.

Freeman did not forget to mention the Patriots as a potential suitor. But the burning question is, are the Jets foolish enough to trade Revis to the alpha within the division? It wouldn't surprise to see Bill Belichick pursue this, but whether or not the Jets are willing to listen is another story.

The price does seem high, though. Not only would the Jets want a first-rounder, but a second-rounder as well, for a player that is coming off serious knee surgery and will be demanding top-dollar. It will be interesting to see how this develops going into the off-season.
