Australian Open 2013: Bryan brothers capture title in straight sets

The Bryan brothers did what they always seem to do: win a major with ease.

Bob and Mike Bryan won the 2013 Australian Open in men’s doubles by defeating Robin Haase and Igor Sijsling of the Netherlands in straight sets on Saturday, 6-3, 6-4.

For the Bryan brothers, winning a major is certainly nothing new. They have captured 13 doubles titles at the majors, including six at the Australian Open.

Despite only have two aces in the entire match, the Bryans were able to control play on their first-serves, winning 73 percent of those points.

Even more impressively, they won 81 percent of their second-serve points, compared to only 35 percent for Haase and Sijsling. Another stat that jumps out are the unforced errors. Haase and Sijsling made eight; the Bryan’s had none.

Next up for the Bryan brothers is the French Open, the toughest of all four majors for them. They’ve won every grand slam tournament at least twice except for the French, which they only captured back in 2003.
