Blue Jackets place Cam Atkinson placed on injured reserve
The second-year forward is headed to the IR with a lower-body injury.

Atkinson is listed as day-to-day with a lower body injury, and will be eligible to return from IR on Jan. 30. The second-year player appeared in 27 games for the Blue Jackets last season, registering seven goals and 14 points. Atkinson played 33 games with the Springfield Falcons of the AHL during the lockout, putting up 17 goals and 38 points with a plus-7 rating. He has one goal in three games with Columbus this season.
The 5-foot-7, 172-pound winger suffered the injury in training camp, as coach Todd Richards has said Atkinson is expected to be out at least one to two weeks in order to fully recover from the injury.
The Blue Jackets have lost four straight to fall to 1-3-1 on the season and will next take on the Dallas Stars on Monday, with the puck dropping at 7 p.m. ET.
