eBay Item of the Day: Finally, a Way to Properly Follow Baseball

If you buy something from a link, Vox Media may earn a commission. See our ethics statement.

If you were to purchase this counting device from the late 19th Century (which appears to be in amazing condition) and bring it to the ballyard this upcoming season, it will afford you the luxury of being able to keep track of the games you watch; unlike those in neighboring seats, who will remain perplexed by the comings and goings of the men on the field.

I may be talking out my blowhole here, but I’m going to assume that the “Keith” on this piece is none other than Benjamin Franklin Keith, the so-called “father” of American Vaudeville. The counter advertises the continuous show concept (no breaks between performances) which Keith invented and which dominated Vaudeville in this era. Another fun factoid: The ‘K’ in RKO Pictures stood for Keith.
