New York Islanders defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky will return to his NHL team no later than February 11, according to his agent Neil Sheehy.

The veteran defenseman could also return sooner, after staying in the KHL to deal with the health of his son.

Visnovsky has been reluctant to join the Islanders since he was traded from the Anaheim Ducks last summer. The veteran defenseman attempted to block the trade after claiming his no-trade clause was still valid since it had not been used when he was traded from Edmonton to Anaheim in 2010. An arbitrator ruled the traded was legal.
The 36-year old defenseman started his career with the Los Angeles Kings and became a dangerous offensive weapon from the point. Visnovsky enjoyed a career-year with the Ducks in 2010-2011, putting up 18 goals and 68 points in 81 games. Last season, Visnovsky managed just 27 points in 68 games, his lowest point total since 2003.
Visnovsky has been playing for HC Slovan Bratislava during the lockout and initially refused to return to the NHL when the season began on Jan. 19. Visnovsky has said his desire to stay in the KHL was due to health issues with his son.
