Winter X Games 2013: Nick Goepper takes home Ski Slopestyle gold

At just 18 years old, Nick Goepper claimed his first gold medal at the Winter X Games on Sunday. Here’s a look at his win, along with a few other medals handed out on the final day of action.

Nick Goepper came up short at last year’s Winter X Games, coming up short in the end and taking home a silver medal in the men’s Ski Slopestyle. One year later, he made sure history did not repeat itself, as the 18-year-old captured the gold in the same event on the final day of action.

Goepper posted a score of 94.00 in his final run on Sunday, his highest point total out of all three showings. Henrik Harlaut finished it second with a best of 92.66.

In 2012, Goepper sat in the lead on the final day of competition, but Tom Wallisch finished his last run with score of 96.00, the highest mark in Ski Slopestyle history. Goepper was forced to sit and wait after his third run this year. Fortunately for the young skier, he would not be denied first place.

Tiril Sjåstad Christiansen took home gold in the women’s Ski Slopestyle with a best score of 92.33. In the Snocross final, Tucker Hibbert clinched gold, winning with a time of 17:10:328. Mike Schultz won the Snocross Adaptive final, finishing at 4:51:882.
