P.K. Subban is expected to meet with his agent, Don Meehan, on Monday in Toronto as the defenseman and the Montreal Canadiens continue to work toward some sort of resolution in the ongoing contract saga.

According to Seth Gordon of the Globe & Mail, Meehan is expected to then get in contact with the team following the meeting with his client. It has been reported that Subban and the team are attempting to cross a vast philosophical divide, with the defenseman likely desiring a long-term contract similar to that signed by the Washington Capitals' John Carlson.

The Canadiens, meanwhile, have not budged from the two-year contract offered last spring, worth $2.2 million this season and $2.9 million next season.

Who has the leverage in this case is still up for debate, as the Canadiens have gone on a three-game winning streak with defenseman Andrei Markov leading the way with four goals and five points. Montreal is still woefully undermanned on defense, however, and it is uncertain how long Markov can keep his production level up. Markov has played in just 20 games combined the past two seasons and has not played in more than 45 games since 2008-2009.

The Canadiens will next face the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday.
