Juan Manuel Marquez seemed to have the fight slipping away from him against Timothy Bradley heading into round nine of their fight. Some media scorecards had Marquez trailing by enough that he needed knockdowns to be able to win a decision.

Marquez still came out, looking to get some work in, despite his corner having told him that he was “winning the fight” by “a slim margin.”
Marquez then landed a right hand later in the round before Bradley landed a hard right of his own and then Marquez landed a right to Bradley’s left hook.
The fight was an interesting mix of counterpunching and strategic thinking that didn’t fall into the trap of being boring.
Marquez with a big shot late in the round staggered Bradley and a follow up buzzed him again.
The action at the end of the round was enough for Marquez to win the round.
