The Green Bay Packers were hit hard with news wide receiver Randall Cobb fractured his fibula.

The Green Bay Packers received tough news today as it was announced Randall Cobb sustained a fractured fibula in Sunday's win over the Baltimore Ravens and is expected to miss up to eight weeks.

Cobb was injured as Ravens' rookie defensive back Matt Elam dived at the receiver, making contact with his knee. The play has become the poster child for the NFL's player protection protocol which took away helmet-to-helmet hits, replacing them with more low shots.

Green Bay will now lean heavily on James Jones, who was also hurt on Sunday. He sprained a ligament and is not expected to miss any time, provided he's cleared by doctors.

David Wilson does not need surgery

The New York Giants, but more importantly David Wilson, got news Monday that the running back would not require neck surgery. It was initially believed Wilson was suffering from spinal stenosis, a potentially career-ending injury. Latest updates indicate that he will now miss 3-4 more weeks, before getting to return to action.

Brandon Jacobs will be relied on to fill the gap while Wilson recovers. He was extremely successful in his first start since being signed, running for over 100 yards and two touchdowns on Thursday Night Football.

Greg Hardy thinks he can beat LeBron James 1-on-1

Each year there are a series of discussions on which players could successfully cross over from the NFL to NBA and vice-versa. Carolina Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy threw some gasoline on the fire when he told the Charlotte Observer he could beat reigning NBA MVP LeBron James in a game of one-on-one.

Confidence is a wonderful thing, but Hardy could be in for a rude awakening if James takes him up on his offer.

New York isn’t shopping Hakeem Nicks, but they’re willing to listen

The New York Giants may be resigned to losing wide receiver Hakeem Nicks at the end of the season, but they're not going to quicken his exit -- as the team is not actively shopping Nicks at this time.

This could be a move to keep the Giants’ locker room together, but several teams are hurting after big-name receivers were hit with injuries. Nicks could be a valuable asset in Green Bay or Atlanta, where both teams lost vital receivers in recent weeks.
