The Steve Nash era in Los Angeles has been nothing but a total bummer for basketball fans, and it doesn't appear things are about to get any better in the near future. The Lakers point guard has been ruled out for a minimum of two weeks due to nerve pain in his back, making things even more difficult for an L.A. team already without Kobe Bryant.

This is a tense time for the former league MVP, as his 39-year-old body continues to have issues that most at his age begin to have in the world of professional sports. Kevin Ding has more on the problems Nash is dealing with:
The Lakers' statement reported Nash's MRI exam and offered this mysterious summation: It "confirmed several preexisting issues." Nash is not just 39; he is 39 with a chronic back condition he has nursed through the years to the amazement of his trainers and therapists to play as much and as well as he has.
Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, having a skilled business mind, pored through the hard data in 2004 and concluded Nash's body would break down sooner or later-so free-agent destination Phoenix, not Dallas, got those two NBA MVP seasons and all those wonderful Nash memories the following six years.
The end of Nash’s tenure in this league is closing in, but is it coming sooner than most expected it would? We’ll have to wait and see, but things are not looking great. For now, Nash will rest his back for what figures to be the majority of yet another NBA season.
