The Bulls beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 96-81 in Chicago on Monday, but Derrick Rose had to leave the court with an injury to his right hamstring in the first-ever matchup between he and another former Rookie of the Year, Kyrie Irving.

The injury to the former league MVP shouldn’t keep him out for long.

Rose came up limping after a layup attempt in the fourth quarter and was removed from the game with less than four minutes remaining. News out of Chicago so far indicates it’s only a minor setback, but we’ll know more tomorrow when all the tests are completed.

Obviously we’ll have more updates as they come in, but for now it does not appear the injury is too serious.

After the nightmare that was the 2012-13 season, the Bulls and their fans want nothing to do with another bite from the injury bug for their All-NBA point guard. But there seems to be reason for optimism after this one, so Bulls fans should relax for now. Rose even said he plans to play on Friday.
