Retired Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps isn’t quite ready to hang up his goggles for good. Phelps is considering his options, which could possibly mean the return of the world’s most decorated Olympian, according to a report from The Associated Press.

Nothing is guaranteed, but Michael Phelps has set the stage for a return to competitive swimming -- should he so desire.

The first step in returning to action was re-enrolling with the U.S. anti-doping agency, which Phelps did in the second quarter of 2013. This may have seemed indicative of a return to action, but the swimmer was quick to downplay the significance of drug testing, saying “nothing is set in stone.”
One man who would like to see Phelps return to action is coach Bob Bowman. He told The Associated Press that he urged Phelps to return to testing, just so he could keep the possibility of a comeback open. Phelps would be able to return in March, should he decide to return to competitive swimming.
Phelps retired following the 2012 London Summer games. He won four gold and two silver medals, setting not only a United States men’s record for making his fourth consecutive Olympic team, but became the most-decorated Olympian of all time with 22 total medals.
