Pacquiao vs Rios results: Felix Verdejo remains undefeated with dominant decision win

Felix Verdejo drubs Petchsamuthr Duanaaymukdahan in the opening bout of the Pacquiao vs Rios pay-per-view.

USA TODAY Sports

On the first bout of the pay-per-view for Manny Pacquiao vs. Brandon Rios, heavily touted prospect Felix Verdejo remained undefeated with a drubbing of the game but supremely outmatched Petchsamuthr Duanaaymukdahan.

Duanaaymukdahan came forward all fight, trying to do...something, but entirely unable to make a dent in Verdejo’s defense. That didn’t stop him from going back to the corner playing to the crowd after almost every round. Nobody can accuse the Thai fighter of not being tough. He also lost a point in round six for low blows, making the deficit on the card even wider.

But Verdejo has a great variety of offense and spent the fight going to the body and head with regularity. In round five he landed his best shot of the round, a thudding uppercut to the chin of Duanaaymukdahan that sent him stumbling to the ropes but not to the canvas.

Verdejo remains a kid with a bright future, but we’re in the stage of his career where we are watching him get rounds to get comfortable as a professional.

The official scorecards read 60-53 across the board for Verdejo.
