Pacquiao vs. Rios results: Andy Ruiz wins when Tor Hamer quits on the stool

Andy Ruiz won by TKO on the Pacquiao vs. Rios undercard when Tor Hammer refused to come out of his corner for the fourth round of their fight.

Tor Hamer entered his bout with Andy Ruiz with a bit of a reputation as a “quitter” having quit on his stool against Vyacheslav Glazkov just three fights prior.

Ruiz was favored to win the bout but Hamer came out and took the fight to him early on, landing some very heavy shots with a good deal of regularity. It was a surprising development as Ruiz should have outskilled and outpowered him from the opening bell.

Ruiz turned it up in the third round though and had Hamer hurt with some big combinations. As the fight seemed to be tilting in Ruiz’s direction, Hamer went back to his corner and quit on the stool.

A replay of the action in the corner appeared to show Hamer spitting the water his corner was giving him and saying “I’m done.” With that, the fight came to a close and Ruiz remained undefeated, surviving a rocky start in his step up in competition.
