Allen Iverson offiically announced his retirement from basketball on Oct. 30 and the Philadelphia 76ers will now retire his number "3" jersey on March 1, the team officially announced Wednesday. Iverson joins Charles Barkley, Wilt Chamberlain, Maurice Cheeks, Billy Cunningham, Julius Erving, Hal Greer, and Bobby Jones as players with retired jerseys in Philadelphia.

Iverson spent 12 seasons total with the Sixers, averaging 27.6 points, 6.1 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game with the franchise. He led the 2000-01 76ers to the NBA Finals, though lost to the Los Angeles Lakers 4-1 in the series. His accolades while with the franchise include the winning 1997 Rookie of the Year and 2001 Most Valuable Player, as well as four NBA Scoring titles. He was also named to the NBA All-Star team 11 times through his career.
The Sixers host the Washington Wizards on March 1 when the organization will hold a halftime ceremony to retire his jersey.
