New York City Marathon 2013: Weather forecast, road closures and more

It’ll be a bit chilly out there today.

Chris Trotman

The weather will remain mild and calm throughout Sunday’s New York City Marathon

Runners and spectators won’t have to worry about a threat of rain; according to weather.com, New York has a zero percent chance of rain Sunday. When the men’s and women’s winners cross the finish line sometime between about 11:30 a.m. and noon, the temperature will be just below 50 degrees. The high for the day is 50.

That makes this a colder Marathon than usual. The mean average for the race is 55 degrees, according to the Marathon’s official website, and the average high is 62.

The race necessitates many road closings, and a full list of the closing and reopening times can be seen here at the Marathon’s website. Most of the road closings will reopen by 5 p.m. or so, though a handful stretch beyond that and another handful near the finish line will remain closed through the rest of the day.
