A fan-designed third kit was unveiled by Melbourne Heart on Wednesday with Harry Kewell and Patrick Kisnorbo wearing the new strip. Each of Heart's five thousand members are named in tiny letters on the shirt, which resembles Aston Villa's current change kit. The one-off outfit will be worn on Friday January 17 against Newcastle Jets in celebration of the club's 100th A-League game.

Heart’s tradition of wearing a one-off kit continues with a design incorporating the names of five thousand members and a unique look.
The contest winner, a 28-year-old local fan, explained his thought process in designing the chosen look:
“It was my intention to return to the club’s colors without using stripes, sashes and/or hoops as part of my design. I also noted that Melbourne Heart’s opponent would be Newcastle Jets, a club with dark home and away kits; therefore a lighter design would avoid a clash.”
Last season, Heart turned heads with a one-off design that included each player’s Twitter handle where his name would ordinarily appear. That was a first in Australia and was both celebrated and derided in sports aesthetics circles. This design does not have a social media aspect to it, though it is certainly a much bolder look. Manager John Aloisi and Heart players chose the winning entry from a handful highlighted by the club.
