Cardinal quarterback Josh Nunes, who started nine games in 2012, is out with an arm injury.

Stanford quarterback Josh Nunes will miss all of spring practice due to an injury, Cardinal head coach David Shaw announced at a press conference Friday. Nunes was seen with his arm in a sling, according to Andy Drukarev of Stanford's Rivals site.

Nunes started nine games for the Cardinal in 2012 and was given the unenviable task of replacing Andrew Luck, who was selected with the first pick in last April's NFL Draft. He struggled at times, completing just 52.8 percent of his passes for 1,653 yards, 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions. After starting 3-of-5 for 23 yards in the Cardinal's 48-0 win over Colorado on Nov. 3, Nunes gave way to redshirt freshman Kevin Hogan, and he didn't play in the final five games of the season.

With Nunes at the helm, Stanford’s offense sputtered, as the Cardinal scored just 13 points in losses to Washington and Notre Dame. After Hogan took over, Stanford defeated the Buffaloes, 48-0, and went on to win its final five games, including a Rose Bowl matchup against Wisconsin.
