Indiana Pacers guard Gerald Green was the first contestant in the 2013 Slam Dunk Contest, and the 2007 champion started off the contest decently. Invoking teammate Lance Stephenson, Green threw down a reverse dunk after Stephenson threw the ball off the side of the backboard. It was an adaptation of a common dunk, but Green made it look pretty good. He ended up getting a perfect score.
Gerald Green gets the 2013 Slam Dunk Contest off to a good start
Gerald Green got the 2013 Slam Dunk Contest going early with a perfect score on a reverse dunk from the side of the backboard.
Here is Green’s dunk:
AESTHETICS
The dunk itself was pretty standard, but that’s not really a bad thing. Instead of starting with an elaborate prop or anything of the sort, Green decided to keep it simple. Green’s power, along with his ability to complete the dunk on the first try, was important in the dunk opener.
REACTION
That dunk needs a shower. It's filthy.

SB NATION’S SCORE
I would have given this one a 48, myself. Fifty seems a little high for a dunk that has been done several times, but it was still an excellent start.
