2013 Accenture Match Play results: Hunter Mahan advances to semifinals
Hunter Mahan took home the win in the 2012 Accenture Match Play Championship, and after Saturday’s quarterfinals he’s one step closer to doing it again.

Poulter was the victor in Saturday’s match between two former Accenture Match Play champions, as the 2012 champion came out ahead of 2001 winner Steve Stricker, 3 and 2. Poulter was 3-up heading into the final two holes and drained a pair of birdies to advance.
Poulter faces Hunter Mahan in the semifinals, who capped Saturday with a 1-up win over Webb Simpson. A late bogey ended up costing Simpson in the close match, as Mahan managed par on the final three holes to take the win.
Matt Kuchar earned his place in the semifinals with a win over Robert Garrigus, 3 and 2. Kuchar took an early lead and stayed ahead of Garrigus all day, picking up five birdies and three bogeys. Garrigus had three birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey. It was Kuchar’s second straight appearance in the quarterfinals, with his 2012 tournament ending after a loss to Mahan.
After underdogs Shane Lowery and Tim Clark lost on Saturday, Jason Day is now the lowest-seeded man in the tournament. The No. 11 seed advanced to the semifinals with a 1-up win over Graeme McDowell. The two were all square after 16 holes, but McDowell bogeyed the next hole while Day finished with a pair of pars and the victory.
