College football recruiting 2014: Ryeshene Bronson scouting report

Big Florida wideout piquing the interest of SEC, ACC coaches.

Bud Elliott (SB Nation Recruiting)

Physical Florida-based wide receiver Ryeshene Bronson is widely considered one of the nation’s best high school pass-catchers. The 6’3, 182-lb. Bronson plays high school football at Dunbar High School in Ft. Myers. He is the cousin of Florida defensive back Jaylen Watkins and Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins.

Bronson has received four-star ratings from Rivals and 24/7, and a three-star rating from Scout. The consensus four-star recruit holds offers from Florida, Florida State, Miami, Auburn, North Carolina, South Carolina, and UMass. As of this writing, he is committed to the Florida Gators.

You can follow Ryshene Bronson’s recruitment on Twitter at @BronsonRyeshene.

Bud Elliott, SB Nation National Recruiting Analyst: Bronson is a talented player who is quite raw. And it’s hard to get much from his film, because the quarterback play is terrible and the offense isn’t there.

Bronson shows surprising quickness and moves for being tall and leggy. He catches a lot of quick hitches and makes defenders miss.

The other route that he runs a lot is some variation of the go route.

And that’s it, really. Bronson doesn’t seem to run much of anything else. Is it because he can’t? Because he doesn’t want to? Because his offense doesn’t call for it? I can’t be sure. I also can’t evaluate something that isn’t on the tape.

There is also the issue of his 40-yard time. Bronson has been timed at 4.72 and 4.8 seconds. While I think Bronson plays faster than his times, he has not turned into the elite deep threat I expected him to be after seeing his 2011 work.

Bronson can be a very good college receiver. He has the size and the frame to end up North of 205-210 pounds. He fights for the ball, can elevate, and has the aforementioned quickness. He could be a poor man’s Justin Blackmon, but should take a redshirt to learn the game.

Look through SB Nation’s many excellent college football blogs to find your team’s community.
