Tampa Bay Lightning captain Vincent Lecavalier has been listed as day-to-day with a bone bruise in his foot, the team announced via Twitter on Sunday.

The Tampa Bay Lightning could be without one of their top scorers for a few games as Lecavalier is day-to-day after taking a puck off the foot on Sunday.

Lecavalier was injured in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the New York Rangers when he took a shot off his foot, and underwent an MRI after the game to determine the extent of the injury. While a bone bruise certainly appears to be better than the alternative, Ray Whitney of the Dallas Stars was recently lost for up to six weeks after a bruised foot turned into a stress fracture when he attempted to play through the pain.
According to the Lightning, coach Guy Boucher stated that Lecavalier will play. Tampa Bay next faces the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday on NBC Sports Network.
The Lightning captain is fourth on the team with 11 points in just eight games as Tampa Bay leads the NHL with 4.88 goals per game, having already scored 39 in just eight contests.
Tampa Bay currently sits No. 2 in the Eastern Conference and has complete control over the Southeast division, with Winnipeg trailing by five points in the standings.
