Christmas Abbott is 31 years old, 5’2 and 115 pounds, and the first female to become part of NASCAR crew. She’s been written about elsewhere in the past few months, but this CNN video was the first I’d heard of her, so let’s all get up to speed together.

She is terrifying, she is the greatest.

She was drawn to all this because of the adrenaline, she likes that there’s only two feet of safety between her and massive cars running through pit row, and she can change two 60-pound tires in 12 seconds. Six weeks ago I got a flat tire and it took me 45 minutes to change it. And I needed help.
She has a gun tattooed on her hip “to remind her of the time she spent in Iraq”.
Right, okay, holy shit.
“I thought it was a publicity stunt,” says her pit crew coach remembering his initial impressions of a female on pit row. But then he saw her in action and realized what an ass-kicker she was, and also noticed the distinct lack of shits given about all the guys who doubted her.
“Guys burnin’ holes through her with their eyes,” he says. “If that didn’t intimidate her, she’s good to go.”
Christmas has a neck tattoo. Do not mess with Christmas.
“She refuses to leave her femininity behind,” says CNN. She also has an awesome dog.
“I love wearing dresses, I love curling my hair,” she explains. “But that doesn’t mean I don’t like to get dirty.”
Good God.
It’s rare to have someone who can destroy your self-worth AND win your heart all in the span of two minutes and 52 seconds, but Christmas Abbott is just that awesome.
And terrifying.
But mostly awesome.
