NASCAR Bristol 2013 qualifying: Drivers prepare for 4th race of the season

Eyes turn to Bristol on Friday afternoon when qualifying for the fourth Sprint Cup race of the season gets underway.

USA TODAY Sports

The next stop on the NASCAR Sprint Cup schedule is the Food City 500 in Bristol this weekend, and the drivers will qualify for the race on Friday afternoon. Brad Keselowski is the defending champion in this event, and he’ll be trying not only to put himself in a strong position to win for the second year in a row, but also to gain some ground on points leader Jimmie Johnson

Practice is underway already at the track, and the qualifying will begin at approximately 3:40 p.m. ET. Each driver will run two laps, and the event will be broadcast live by the Speed Network.

The Sprint Cup Series has not had a repeat winner so far this season -- Johnson, Matt Kenseth and Carl Edwards each have won a race, and of those three, only Johnson has won this race at Bristol in the past.
