He has previous ties with UCLA, having served as an assistant coach for eight years from 1987-95. The Bruins fired Ben Howland on Sunday after a once-promising season ended with a thud in the Round of 64. They were once thought to pursue Shaka Smart, but Smart quickly took himself off the market by signing a 10-year extension with VCU.
Expect the Bruins’ coaching search (and subsequent rumor mill) to kick into high gear once the Tournament ends.
