The No. 9 Shockers continue to live up to their nickname, beating No. 2 Ohio State and advancing to the Final Four for the first time in program history. It’s also the first time a No. 9 seed has made the Final Four since 1994.
Ohio State vs. Wichita State: The Shockers continue their magical tourney run
Wichita State held on to pick-up a 70-66 win over Ohio State that makes them the first No. 9 seed to go to the Final Four since 1994. Understandably, the Shocker fan base’s reaction was ecstatic.

Over at Mid-Major Madness, Christopher Hondros was understandably excited, opening his recap like this:
“FINAL FOOOOUUUUR! CLAP! CLAP! CLAP-CLAP-CLAP! YOU DON’T WANT TO GO TO WAR...WITH THE SHOOOOOOOOCKERS! DON’T START NO STUFF, WON’T BE NO STUFF!” The sea of yellow that was Wichita State fans exploded when the clock struck double zero.
Even when Ohio State came roaring back from a 20-point deficit, eventually drawing within three points, the Ohio State fanbase at Land-Grant Holy Land seemed to know that it was just a tease.
Unfortunately for their fan base, the reverse jinx failed and Wichita State hit clutch shots down the stretch. If it’s any consolation though, I hear booze and NCAA 11 is a winning combination, folks.
