Blue chip offensive line prospect Kc McDermott is set to announce his college choice between Miami and Notre Dame on Tuesday. The Palm Beach Central High School (FL) product is a consensus five-star prospect in the class of 2014; his brother, Shane, was the Hurricanes’ starting center last season.
Kc McDermott announcement: 5-star picking Miami or Notre Dame
The highly-regarded offensive lineman plans to end his recruitment on Tuesday.

McDermott, who stands 6’6 and weighs 285 pounds, is considered the fourth-best offensive tackle and No. 31 overall prospect in the class of 2014 by 247Sports. He visited both schools recently, and multiple outlets reported last week that he had already committed to Miami.
The Hurricanes may have an edge because Kc’s brother plays for the team, and his father, Randy, says location is a factor in the decision.
“They’re razor thin in regards to the differences if you break it down from an education standpoint, from a coaching standpoint,” Randy McDermott said. “Notre Dame is obviously coming off a great year, going 12-0 and playing for the national title. That’s impressive. The biggest difference, and what we told Notre Dame, is location.”
