Hello, friends.
SB Nation Campfire Tales: Real-life Jim Nantz is exactly how you think Jim Nantz is
Presented by Bigelow Tea (this story is not actually presented by Bigelow Tea unless Bigelow Tea is reading this and wants to sponsor my story and give me some free tea).

Just kidding. Hi, I would like to share a story about the time I was around Jim Nantz. I was like 17 or something, who knows, age is just a social construct anyway. My father and I were at the Bridgestone Invitational in Akron, Ohio. And the golf course was really better than any other part of Akron. Lots of corporations like to hang out and drink Heineken or whatever it is they drink in those patio things. I wasn’t paying much attention because I didn’t want my dad to know I was going to Kent State and drinking in hotels and stuff.
My dad got us some sponsor passes to watch Tiger Woods win for the 100th time, and hey there’s Elin don’t her and Tiger make such a perfect couple? The day’s events were running out and I was talking to a couple golfers, probably Justin Leonard or another guy in a polo shirt, and there were a few people just hanging out behind the CBS booth.
Here comes Jim Nantz down the steps, and this kid of about 12 saunters over to Jim, excited as hell.
“Hey, Mr. Nantz,” the kid said, overzealously. “Can I have your autograph?”
Nantz said nothing, then took his tie off and put it in the kid’s outstretched hands. He then walked away without a word.
The kid was stunned. We were all stunned, honestly. The kid was just there, cradling the tie like a dying bird.
And that was the time I saw Jim Nantz in person.
