Job turnover in network TV college football packages is fairly rare. CBS (Verne Lundquist) and ABC (Brent Musberger) have had the same lead voices for years, and no one can imagine Fox signing Gus Johnson as not to attempt to give him the same longevity. However, NBC will be making a move this season with their Notre Dame coverage.
NBC to name Dan Hicks new voice of Notre Dame football
Hicks replacing Tom Hammond, who will be staying on with the network in other roles.

Dan Hicks -- voice of NBC’s golf and Olympic swimming -- will become the voice of the Fighting Irish on television, according to Sports Illustrated. He’ll be starting next Saturday, with NBC Sports Network’s telecast of the program’s spring game. Hicks will replace Tom Hammond, who had done the job for since 2000. Hammond will reportedly stay on with the network, continuing to call horse racing and figure skating. Hicks himself will continue in his Olympic and golf commentating roles.
Hicks will join analyst Mike Mayock and reporter Alex Flanagan, who have been working Notre Dame football since 2010 and 2007, respectively. The Fighting Irish home schedule, which continues to be exclusively televised on NBC, will feature games against BYU, Navy, USC, Oklahoma, Michigan State and Temple, as well as a neutral site game at Arlington, Texas against Arizona State.
