Eric Sogard looks like ... wait, you know what? I’m not going to use the accountant joke. Yes, he has glasses. Get over it, people.

So Eric Sogard rolled 4d6.takeHighest(3) on Monday, and it led to one of the best plays of Opening Day:

If it ended up as a double play, it would have been in the conversation for the best play of the year, or at least the first half, though it’s hard to judge these things after six months of no baseball. Still, it was a beautiful flip, and it almost works just as well in stills as it does in moving pictures.



You could set up a reality show where the whole purpose was to take regular people and train them for six months to make this exact play, and it would be full of washouts and dropouts, people who couldn’t come close to doing it. Sogard did it instinctively. Heckuva play, Eric. Heckuva play.
